Designed for Craft Victoria exhibition DONE/UNDONE curated by Joseph Gardner: VISIONARIES 2025: Presenting the future of Australian art, craft and design through the lens of one of the country's most influential creatives.
Codependence places two stools in dialogue, upholstered with textiles formed by dismantling Victorian beaded garments and appliquing them onto worn silk dupion. A metal maker's plaque on each stool anchors the work in a language of craft and repair. Streifen works instinctively, drawn to materials already marked by use.
Fabrics are fragmented and reassembled to expose traces of erosion and unravelling. Process remains visible, histories are left intact, and through decay the work finds a restrained sense of renewal.
